London, 2016-Nov-23 — /EPR Retail News/ — Due to popular demand Sainsbury’s has released the soundtrack from its 2016 Christmas ad ‘The Greatest Gift’ on iTunes, with 100% of Sainsbury’s profits on the sale of the track going to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

’The original, joyful and humorous song, voiced British actor James Corden and written by Oscar winning composer Bret McKenzie, shot up the Spotify charts just 48 hours after the Sainsbury’s Christmas campaign launched earlier this week. Telling the charming and festive tale of Dave, a hard-working and devoted dad, the track is now available to all here on iTunes for 99p.

Sarah Kilmartin, Head of Broadcast Comms, Sainsbury’s, comments “We are thrilled with the positive response to the advert and the track so far, anything that amplifies our message of Christmas is for Sharing and helps raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity can only be a good thing. It’s a brilliant song and when you have something that is written by an Oscar winning composer (Bret Mackenzie) and performed by an iconic British artist (James Corden), there is a good chance of it being a bit of a hit.”

‘The Greatest Gift’ Sainsbury’s Christmas campaign is designed to entertain children and families across the UK, as well as raising funds to help Great Ormond Street Hospital families be together at Christmas and throughout the year.  All Sainsbury’s profits from the sale of the specially created Gingerbread ‘Dave’ (£1), The Greatest Gift film animation kit (£5) and the iTunes track (99p) will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and be put towards providing accommodation for families of children at the hospital. From 21st November, customers will also have the option to make a 20p donation at the till, or more if requested, with all the proceeds going straight to the charity.
