Lagardere Travel Retail to add new and innovative concepts at Gold Coast Airport after winning 5 concessions

Tasmania, Australia, 2016-Dec-07 — /EPR Retail News/ — The travel retailer has been awarded 5 Travel Essentials concessions in Gold Coast Airport, following their success in a very competitive tender process.

This win will bring to Gold Coast Airport new and innovative concepts, as well as refreshing some of their successful concepts currently at the Airport operated by the group. All 5 concessions have been awarded for 5 year terms, with the Aelia Duty Free concession remaining through to late 2018.

A stepped change will be introduced into the store design in collaboration with Gold Coast Airport to ensure the best designs, a true sense of place and innovative offers are in line with the changing Gold Coast market. A strategic combination of both Travel Essentials and Gift & Souvenir offers will enhance and add value for all stakeholders.

Pacific Region CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail, Matthieu Mercier, said the renewal of business within Gold Coast Airport is an outstanding achievement for Lagardère Travel Retail.

“We were thrilled to receive the news our offer was successful. Having operated in Gold Coast Airport since 2002, to be selected again as Gold Coast Airport’s partner of choice signals a long, confident and successful partnership in this fast growing airport.”

“Our teams are committed to delivering exceptional concepts to the airport, together with strong staff engagement and award winning customer service to all travellers, with an eye on the fast approaching 2018 Commonwealth Games” he says.

Gold Coast Airport Chief Operating Officer Marion Charlton said the decision to award Lagardere Travel Retail was made following a strongly contested RFP process.

“We are confident, based on our experience with Lagardère Travel Retail, that a strong mix of local flavour will be incorporated within the stores upon refurbishment completion early next year,” Ms Charlton said.

Lagardere Travel Retail will operate the News, Convenience and Souvenir sites in the terminal for a 5 year period, commencing 1 December 2016. The group currently operates NewsLink, Hub, Discover, M.A.C Cosmetics, Victoria Secret Beauty & Accessories, tech2go and Aelia Duty Free in Gold Coast Airport.
